Eco-Chic

It seems that I just can’t stop obsessing about nature friendly yarns or fabrics!

What started all this? In searching for materials on my next sweater(pattern1  or? pattern2) , I came across more links to share with you (in case your interested):

Hemp, hemp, hurrah: Pippi’s article on spinning hemp from knitty.com

Fabrics and Yarns: An article from ‘the Green Guide’ on green yarns and fabrics

green. the new black.honeyflake discusses earth-friendly fabrics

vegan-yarnsmoira’s list of vegan yarns

Sustainable Style: Flickr photo group about eco friendly clothing, materials and recycling

Weaving, Textile & More: Flickr photo group that showcases organic fabrics & textiles, created by Vanessa from coloursknits

This is such a great list of resources! Thanks!

i just started carrying soysilk, soy latte (milk protein), corn silk and bamboo and they are all wonderful. the soy is made from the waste of tofu extruded from a hose so it makes the soy strands. it is nicer to spin than silk and doesn’t smell funny. and they have a bamboo top called black diamond that is a charcoal color that has been “carbonized” so it is naturally that color, not dyed. cool eh? let me know if you want to try anything.

Thanks Pamela!

The black diamond sounds really cool, I would love to see a picture of that :)
